On behalf of our entire staff, our administration, and our Board of Education:
The sudden passing of NCS Math teacher Adam Cole has been a blow to students and staff alike. We grieve alongside his family, and fully support his wife and children through this incredibly trying time.
Our school day today was primarily focused on supporting students experiencing a terrible loss and on coming together as a school community to find a path forward. We are grateful to our families for understanding the need for a two-hour delay and a less-structured school day in order to give staff and students time and space to acclimate to the situation together.
Mr. Cole’s dedication to his students was evidenced by the number of students who came to school today because, as so many of them said, “he would have wanted me to.”
Adam’s impact as a coach continues to be felt and is sure to carry forward. Every baseball and softball player wore their jersey to school today to honor him, and several players are already planning individual and group memorial projects.
We would like to thank the supportive staff who joined us from other districts today to be available for students in need. Their assistance to our own crisis team was invaluable.
Our school community is resilient. Though our hearts are heavy, we will continue to care for, to educate, to coach, and to be there for our students. Because that is our mission. Because that is our meaning. And because he would have wanted us to.
